Small Academic Expenses Grant
Members can apply for up to £600 for small grants to support independent economic research.
Funded examples include travel expenses, software or expenses for an invited speaker at an economic conference organised at the applicant’s institution.
Preference will be given to initiatives that benefit new entrants to the profession and that cannot ordinarily be funded from other sources. Only projects and conferences in economics will be considered.
Members of the Society can apply for up to £600. It must be an activity taking place within 12 months of application. Applications are considered three times a year – January, May and September. The closing dates for submissions are 31 January, 31 May and 30 September.Note where expenses are requested, only travel and accommodation within the RES Expenses Policy will be reimbursed as eligible expenses.
Applicants must be members of the Society and not have applied in the last three years. Applicants must include a statement of support from their head of department.
Successful applicants must submit a brief summary of the impact of the funding and receipts detailing the eligible expenditure, within two months of the conference.
Members can apply for up to £2,000 for one off activities that further the understanding and use of economics.
Members can apply for funding for outreach events to encourage more students to study economics at university.
Members can apply for up to £500 to support those who are presenting an economic paper at a conference or are acting as the main speaker.
