Our friendly staff are based at the RES's Westminster office and are responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Society under the direction of the Chief Executive. 

Leighton Chipperfield

Chief Executive |

Leighton joined the RES as Chief Executive in 2017. Prior to joining the Society, Leighton held senior roles at a large academic publisher and at the Microbiology Society. A social scientist by background, he has a postgraduate diploma in Voluntary Sector Management from Cass Business School and a diploma in Charity Management from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.

Raj Chana

Executive Assistant |

Raj joined the Society in 2019. She has previous experience in office management for various organisations, including roles within logistics, media and aviation. Her responsibilities are to support the team across communications, events, and finance.

Marie-Luiza De Menezes

Head of Operations |

Marie-Luiza manages all operations within the Society, covering finance, human resources, events, grants and Council elections. She is also data protection lead on GDPR. Marie-Luiza has an extensive background as a senior manager within the charity sector specialising in new projects around organisational change and workforce development.

Georgina Jenkins

Training & Events Manager |

Georgina has worked in event management within the not-for-profit sector for many years, more recently at the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. She is experienced in coordinating complex, large-scale conferences. Georgina has a background in marketing and design and holds a BA in silversmithing.

Iara De Menezes

Finance and Membership Officer |

Iara joined the RES as Finance Officer in 2018. She holds a first class BA in Journalism from the Methodist University of Piracicaba, Brazil. She is currently studying for an AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting, and previously worked at The Nautical Institute as their Finance Assistant Manager.

Julia Randall-Edwards

Head of Communications & Engagement |

Julia is responsible for the communications and engagement strategic approach at the Royal Economic Society having spent a number of years working as a consultant in senior roles in the charity and government sector.

Antonia Glanfield

Publications Manager |

Antonia has worked in academic publishing since completing her Publishing MA at Oxford Brookes University in 2016. Notably, Antonia has previous experience of working on a society journal at the International Federation of Gynecology & Obstetrics (FIGO). In addition to a Publishing MA, Antonia holds a Psychology BSc.

Maeve Cohen

Campaign Manager, Discover Economics |

Maeve heads up Discover Economics, RES's campaign to increase diversity among economics students. Before starting at RES Maeve co-founded and was Director at Rethinking Economics, an international student-led campaign to reform economics education.
