RES Publications and Scholarly Editions

Scholarly Editions

From its inception the Royal Economic Society has had a commitment to publishing scholarly editions of classic works in economics. Its editions of the works of Ricardo, Malthus, Marshall, Edgeworth, and Keynes set an international standard in these matters. Many are available online or as print on demand, others can be ordered via the RES Office. See below for the list of currently in print publications.

Please note that the Society  owns the copyright to reproduce extracts from the Collected Writings of John Maynard Keynes.  While our current publisher, Cambridge University Press gives permission freely for the reproduction in another work of a short prose extract (less than 400 words), in which it holds rights, requests to reproduce extracts from the Collected Writings of John Maynard Keynes are excluded from a fair use category and a permission request needs to be submitted for each use of this content.
If you wish to request permission to reproduce extracts from the Collected Writings, you will need to complete an online permission application form which can be found at the following address:

If you have any queries about the requirement to request permission please contact CUP Permissions & Rights department directly by email on or by telephone to 01223 326036.
