The first RES Newsletter was circulated to members in September 1972. Initially, it was a brief information sheet but it expanded over the years to report on the Society’s increasing range of activities. A major step forward occurred in 1990 when, following a suggestion by Sir Austin Robinson in 1989, a ‘News and Views’ section was added to encourage comment on current policy issues. A brief history of the Newsletter can be read in issue No.100, January 1998, via the LSE archive (see below). Items for the Conference Diary should be sent to the RES office (royaleconsoc@st-andrews.ac.uk) before 15th of each month preceding publication.
Issues before January 2010 are held in the RES Archive at the London School of Economics Library. The archive has an online catalogue which can be browsed at http://archives.lse.ac.uk/
Over time, it is our intention to link to earlier issues from the current page and also to upload earlier content to the various online categories, such as Correspondence, Features, Comments and Notes.
