The Society is able to offer financial support to RES members who require small sums for unexpected expenditures in connection with independent economics research work.
The type of expenditures which could qualify for support under this scheme include travel expenses in connection with independent economics research work, the purchase of a relevant piece of software, the defrayal of expenses for a speaker at an economics conference being organised by the applicant's University or Institute, etc. Members should note that the Special Project Grant scheme offers the possibility of grants of up to £5000 on a one-off basis for the support of activities that further the understanding and use of economics, such as conferences that disseminate research and policy findings.
Please note that the awards under the grant scheme are highly competitive, and selection will be based on the following criteria.
These criteria should be addressed in the application:
Please note that no awards will be made to any applicant who has received RES financial assistance in the 3 previous years.
Please note that the closing dates for applications are 31 January, 31 May, and 30 September each year and applications will only be considered for forthcoming projects.
Applications should be made on the application form below stating the purpose for which a small grant (maximum £600) is required and submitted via the contact form on the website.
