CHROMA biography

Founded in 1997, the critically acclaimed CHROMA features some of Britain's most outstanding musicians, and is known for the passion it brings to contemporary works, its vivid renderings of classic pieces and its diverse participation/learning activity.

It is closely associated with contemporary music and collaborates with many prominent British composers - 2012 saw premieres of CHROMA commissions from Claudia Molitor, Raymond Yiu & Michael Zev Gordon, and premieres of works by Ian Wilson, Mike Henry, Charlotte Bray, Samuel Bordoli, Helgi Ingvarsson, Louis Chiappetta, Goncalo Gato and Theodoros Chatzidis.

Collaborations include: Live at LICA, Lancaster; ROH Linbury - premieres of operas by Tarik O'Regan (ROH2/Opera East), Stewart Copeland & Anne Dudley (ROH2 operashots), the family ballet “Wind in The Willows” (Will Tuckett/ROH2); Iford Festival. CHROMA is Associate Ensemble for Tête à Tête, which includes developing new work through Tête à Tête: The Opera Festival.

CHROMA is resident ensemble at RHUL, and also works with the student composers of the Royal Academy of Music, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Cardiff University and Birmingham Conservatoire, and runs annual primary school programmes in Norfolk and Wiltshire.

Showcasing the very best of young jazz talent at Royal Holloway, the Undergraduate Quartet offer an eclectic mix of Jazz and Latin music. Between them, the players of the quartet perform regularly in venues around Egham, London and Oxford in various groups, and are highly skilled in a range of styles.
