| Papers should be submitted electronically in PDF format. All necessary fonts should be embedded in the PDF file. Useful information on the preparation and creation of PDF files may be found at http://gemini.econ.umd.edu/e-editor/pdftips.html Submission is free.
Submissions should be made on-line at http://gemini.econ.umd.edu/ectj/ . If you are unable to access this link, please contact via e-mail the Editorial Office . In exceptional cases, those who are unable to submit electronic files in PDF format can submit one copy of a paper prepared according to these guidelines by mail addressed to the Editorial Office at the address below (including, if possible, media containing an electronic version of the paper). Please note that submission by mail may encounter a significant delay.
Submission implies that the work is original, unpublished and not under review elsewhere. Related work that is forthcoming, submitted elsewhere or becomes so during the term in which The Econometrics Journal is considering the manuscript should be brought to the attention of the Editorial Board.
See the editorial policy of The Econometrics Journal.
Papers should be formatted to be easily readable and should be under 50 pages. Footnotes, figures, etc., should not be placed at the end. If the length of the paper exceeds the page limit it may be rejected without review and will typically be rejected without review if the main body of the paper is more than the aforementioned limit. Authors should take care to motivate their work and to communicate clearly the contribution of the paper. Pages should be numbered. Papers should include an abstract which summarises the finding of the paper, keywords and complete author affiliations on the title page. Proofs of results should be placed in appendices.

Authors of accepted papers are expected to place their articles in The Econometrics Journal house style. The Econometrics Journal Style Guide details instructions and guidance on how to do this. A template of the style guide in The Econometrics Journal house style is also provided which may prove useful to authors when typesetting their article. It is critical for rapid publication that authors read and follow the style instructions carefully. Papers which do not accord with The Econometrics Journal house style are likely to be returned to the authors for correction with a consequent delay in publication. A number of common stylistic errors are also listed in the style guide. Unfortunately the Editorial Office of The Econometrics Journal is unable to offer a typesetting service to authors.
Authors also must assign copyright in their paper to the Royal Economic Society. Copyright assignment is a condition of publication and papers will not be passed to the publisher for production unless copyright has been assigned. To assist authors an appropriate Exclusive License Form will be supplied by the Editorial Office together with The Econometrics Journal Style Guide. Alternatively, authors can download the Exclusive Licence Form directly.
