Following a competitive process, the Royal Economic Society have selected the University of York to host its Annual Public Lecture for three years from 2018. The University of York succeed the University of Manchester, whose agreement to host the Society’s Annual Public Lecture concludes in 2017.

The RES Annual Public Lecture (APL), first established in 2001, aims to bring the best communicators in the economics profession into contact with a wide public and to show the importance of top-quality economic research. Aimed principally at sixth form students of Economics but of interest to all, the APL has become an established part of the senior school calendar. The APL is given twice each year and in separate locations. In 2018, the lecture will be hosted by the Royal Institution, London and the University of York.
Further details about the 2018 lecture will be announced in due course.
