The 2017 Annual Public Lecture took place at the Royal Institution in London on Wednesday 22 November. The Annual Public Lecture was recorded and is now available to view on YouTube.

In this lecture, Professor Stephen Machin, Director of the Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics, discusses the importance of economic incentives as a determinant of crime, what economists can contribute to our understanding of why people commit crime and what can be done to discourage, detect and apprehend criminals.
