1.The search facility on this site is only
available for members. To enable to use this facility, you
will have to apply for
membership. You will need your customer number to be able
to register on this site. Please contact the online helpdesk
e-help@blackwellpublishing.com.

2. In order to search for the member you
are looking for, all you need to do is enter any combination
of either name, address or research interests and click the
"Search" button. For example, if you are searching
for Richard Smith using his name, you can enter any combination
of the name, such as:
Richard,
Smith,
Richard Smith,
"Richard" and "Smith",
"Richard" or "Smith"
Some members are listed with initials as their first names.
In order to search for these members, you will need to conduct
the search using only the surname as using R Smith, for example,
will not make the results any more specific. This means that
when you are searching for a member e.g Richard Smith, you
should always check all the results for R. Smith as well as
skimming the results for the full name.
You will then receive a list of all the names of members
that match your search criteria, along with the institution
where they are based. Choose the member that you were looking
for from the list by clicking on their name, and you will
then be taken to the individual page, which shows the full
member profile. If you would like to commence a new search
there is a link back to the homepage from here.
A tip for searching: as the search results will include all
members that match the keywords you have entered, it is wise
to include as much information as possible e.g. if you just
enter "Richard" you will receive results for all
the instances of Richard within the site database. This could
be hundreds. If you were to enter Richard Smith, however,
the results will be narrowed down somewhat. This is the same
for the address and the research interests information.

3.
If you receive 0 results for any particular search, all you
need to do is click the back button and try a different variation
of keywords and you should eventually receive some results.
If you do not, the person you are looking for may not be a member,
but if you are sure they are then all you need to do is contact
the online helpdesk e-help@blackwellpublishing.com
and we shall look into this for you.

4.
In order to access your own member profile, you will need to
sign in first and then go to http://www.res.org.uk/Membership/update.asp.
You will then have access to your personal details.

5.
Your customer number is the number that appears at the beginning
of the second line of your address label which is on the paper
copy of the society journal. Please contact the online helpdesk
e-help@blackwellpublishing.com
if you are unable to find your customer number.

6.
Members wishing to amend personal profiles have to register
because only you can access your own individual profile and
so this part of the site has been password protected to prevent
any other member or any non-member amending your personal member
profile without you knowing.

7.
No - once you have received your password, all you need to do
is re-validate this password on the logon page at each visit
and you will have access to your member profile. There is a
direct link to the logon page from the homepage.

8.
When you click "Submit", you will receive a confirmation
on screen that your details have been received successfully.
You may print this off to use as a record. If you do not receive
a confirmation on screen, you should either click back and make
sure you have entered your details correctly or you should contact
the online helpdesk e-help@blackwellpublishing.com
with your query and you will receive a reply shortly after.

9.
When you amend your contact details, these changes will be uploaded
back to our database but the ship-to address
will remain the same as it was before (i.e. contact details
rather than delivery details are changed). If you want to change
your ship-to details you will need to contact our Membership
Services department separately at membershipservices@oxon.blackwellpublishing.com

10.

the site secure. If you do notice an error in a member's profile
whilst you are searching, please contact the online helpdesk

and we shall notify the member of the error so that they can
then make the changes themselves (if the member is a friend
or colleague then you may want to contact them yourself with
this information).
